BRIANNA & PETER
When a mutual friend insists that you meet, naturally, you oblige. And if your story resembles anything like that of Brianna and Peter’s, then you never look back because that was perhaps the best decision you have ever made. Since their first year in college, Brianna, a teacher, and Peter, a market manager for an agricultural institute, knew that they were meant to spend the rest of their lives together, but it would take nearly a decade into their relationship before Peter found the perfect way to surprise his love with the sweetest proposal. After telling Brianna that he would be away on a business trip, Brianna was completely caught off guard when the students in her fifth grade classroom held up a sign that read: “Ms. B., will you marry me?” And just like that, Brianna naturally obliged, yet again.
As the last rays of light shines on the Topa Topa Mountains, for a moment, the crystalline sky is tinged a smoldering pink overtone, and the Ojai Valley slips into a peaceful slumber. Known by locals for its fertile, verdant hills that provide the ideal growing climate for the sweetest varieties of Ojai Pixie tangerines, the town is also home to the luxurious mountainside retreat, the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, a prime choice for Brianna and Peter’s wedding weekend. To kick off the start to the weekend, Brianne & Peter welcomed their guests with a casual margarita party. The very next day, guests had the option of partaking in a spiritual morning yoga session before donning their jeans and cowboy boots for a festive barnyard BBQ dinner. The playful vibe of the days leading up the wedding made for a very festive celebration.
To honor their families’ support of their relationship over the years, Brianna & Peter included their siblings in their wedding party which also consisted of a darling flower girl and junior bridesmaid. Since their families loved to cook and share meals together, their wedding also celebrated their passion for food. Guests were welcomed to the ceremony with lavender lemonade cocktails, while a specialty Blood Orange Margarita set the mood for cocktail hour. Afterwards, as fragrances of lavender and citrus perfumed the summertime evening air, guests strolled through a path laden with fruit trees that led to a tented reception held at the Inn’s herb garden. After dinner and dancing, Brianna and Peter made sure that the after-party ensued with a bevy of midnight snacks that included mini milkshakes for guest to enjoy.
